Sticks of cut and pierced ivory, painted in polychrome and decorated with feathers and painted applications. Guards cut, pierced and carved ivory (25+2). Ribbon of white silk; rivet set with clear circular, cut pastes. Front: below the ribbon, the fan is decorated in nine rows of different pierced patterns, bordered by rows of dots. The painted area above the ribbon has a bird sitting on sprays of roses in the centre, bordered by alternating butterflies and birds amid sprays of flowers. Back: undecorated. Guards: Both guards have similar pierced decoration with a snowflake motif near the top.
