Description

Double chickenskin leaf, painted in bodycolour and silvered; the reverse shows fishermen by a river with boats. The sticks are of painted ivory and the guards of polished bamboo, strengthened with tortoiseshell at the head.

History note: Colonel Leonard C. Messel (1872-1953); his daughter Anne, Countess of Rosse (1902-1992)
