Maker: Unknown
The leaf is of double paper painted in bodycolour. The fan opens up both ways, showing four separate scenes on each: one in chinoiserie, the other three European, all gilt and, apparently, by the same hand. The sticks and guards are of ivory, pierced and carved, gilt in three tones and with gilt sequins; in addition, the guards are backed with foil and mother-of-pearl.
