Folding fan of silk, double leaf. Decorated with three coloured mezzotints and other painted motifs, and embroidered with sequins.
Sticks of pierced, painted, and gilded ivory. Guards of gilded and carved ivory, backed with steel. Paste rivet.
History note: Colonel Leonard C. Messel (1872-1953); his daughter Anne, Countess of Rosse (1902-1992)
