Folding fan of red silk, painted with a female figure with a faces of applied ivory, and who has a garland. The whole leaf is embroidered with gold sequins and frosted gilt stamped metal paillettes.
Sticks and guards of pierced ivory, gilded and inlaid with cut steels. Paste rivet.
History note: Colonel Leonard C. Messel (1872-1953); his daughter Anne, Countess of Rosse (1902-1992)
