Yellow satin embroidered with polychrome silks in Pekinese, long and short, and stem stitch with some French knots. Silver metallic thread (tarnished) in Pekinese stitch and couched. Flowers and foliage (iris, prunus, tree peony) with two butterflies on one side; branches of wistaria with two birds (jays?) on the other. Case partially lined with blue satin, stiffened with thin board. Sewn-in end of matching yellow satin. Side edges and tops bound with black and cream woven ribbon. Flat brown cord with two pink glass beads.
