Dark blue satin embroidered with gold and silver metal thread in Pekinese stitch (red and white silk threads used for foundation stitches) coloured silks in Pekinese and stem stitch used for small amounts of detailing. Ruyi symbol at top; a phoenix, centrally placed, has rows of the character for 'long life' above and below; both sides similar. Case partially lined with red satin, stiffened with thin board; tops and edges bound with blue and cream ribbon. Sewn-in end of blue satin, lower quarter and base supported by stiffer board.
