This forms part of the 'tea-plant' series of Chelsea triangle wares, which comprised coffee pots, beakers, sugar boxes, and saucers but, paradoxically, not teapot or teabowls have been recorded. Examplesa are known in the white, and with coloured decoration, and were almost certainly inspired by a silver prototype. Marked variations in npainting and palette can be seen in tea-plant wares.
