Description

Wide-ended folding fan, decorated, obverse: with lobed circular blue cartouches painted with chrysanthemum, orchid, bamboo, pine and prunus, on a red ground; reverse: similar, but red cartouches on a blue ground. Sticks: with modified cat's eye pattern (nekome). Guards: bamboo, lacquered and pierced. Sticks: lacquered bamboo. Face: heavy paper, painted in polychrome opaque watercolours.
