Soft-paste porcelain octagonal plate, painted underglaze in blue with initials RC in a cartouche surrounded by flowering branches, and a diaper border. The back painted in capitals ‘Mr ROBERT/CROWTHER/STOCKPORT/CHESHIRE’ and in script, the date ‘January 1770’
Soft-paste porcelain, press-moulded, and painted underglaze in blue. The plate has an octagonal rim and a circular well, painted in the centre with the initials ‘RC’ outlined in dots, within a cartouche of foliate scrolls surrounded by flowering branches. The sides are painted with an elaborate diaper border, interspersed with stylized pineapples and trefoils. The underside is painted in capital letters ‘Mr ROBERT/ CROWTHER/STOCKPORT/CHESHIRE’ and in script, the date ‘January 1770’.
