PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, ii parchment flyleaves + 143 fols. + ii parchment flyleaves, 129 x 86 mm (71 x 43 mm), 12 long lines, ruled in brown ink, catchwords

BINDING: Modern, gold-tooled red morocco over wooden boards, two clasps on fore-edge, edges gilt.

CONTENTS: fols. 1r–67r Office of the Dead; fols. 69r–99v Penitential Psalms and Litany; fols. 100r–106r Short Hours of the Cross; fols. 109r–143r Hours of the Passion.

DECORATION: Four historiated initials in pink, blue or green with white or yellow floral patterns and acanthus extensions on gold grounds, and full floral borders with putti: fol. 1r Office of the Dead, Vespers [D, 8 ll.] Crowned skeleton; fol. 69r Penitential Psalms, [D, 5 ll.] David playing psaltery; fol. 100r Short Hours of the Cross, [D, 5 ll.] Christ carrying the Cross; fol. 109r Hours of the Passion, [P, 5 ll.] Christ as Man of Sorrows, with gold cross incorporated in lower border.

ORNAMENTATION: Foliate initial [D, 5 ll.] on gold ground for Office of the Dead, Matins (fol. 12r); alternate gold and blue initials [2 ll.] with blue or red pen-flourished infill and extensions; alternate red and blue one-line penwork initials; capitals highlighted in yellow.

History note: Ownership inscription in Greek recording the acquisition of the manuscript by Ραινέριος Κολλαρίνιος in January 1750 (inside upper cover); purchased by Frank McClean (1837–1904) in Rome (James 1912a, 141); his bequest, 1904.
