Description

Silver, parcel-gilt; miniature of a 17th Century standing cup

Silver, parcel-gilt; miniature in the style of an early 17th Century standing cup. The bowl has fluted sides, and resembles a campanula. Each of its six sides is engraved with a stylised flower. It stands on a slender stem supported by three caryatids holding rings (one ring missing). The low trumpet-shaped hexafoil foot is engraved with alternating panels of matting.
