Description

Silver-gilt; decorated with engraved, embossed, pierced, cast and filigree ornament

Silver-gilt; decorated with engraved, embossed, pierced, cast and filigree ornament. The base sits on a plain spreading hexafoil ring, above which is a verticle openwork border of cast scrolls. The trumpet-shaped foot is divided into six panels by ropework borders which contain applied filigree work. The hexagonal stem is engraved with a geometric pattern. At the centre is a large lobed knop with applied scrolls and flowerheads. The base of the plain U-shaped cup is held by triangular panels of filigree work, above which is a girdle of fleur-de-lys.
