Silver-gilt; embossed and chased with spiral fluting and rocaille decoration. The handle surmounted by a dragon.
Silver-gilt; with embossed, chased and engraved ornament, the handle cast and chased. The enlongated pear-shaped body rising at the front into a curved lip. The short knopped stem stands on a domed foot with circular shaped edge. The scroll handle is surmounted by the body of a winged dragon whose tail coils round the handle. The body of the ewer is embossed and chased with spiral fluting and rocaille cartouches which have tails of flowers and foliage. Engraved at the back and on each side of the neck is a spray of flowers, and under the lip is a rocaille cartouche enclosing the crest of Ormonde beneath the coronet of a Marquis. The foot is similarly fluted and embossed and chased with spiral fluting, rocaille cartouches and flowers. (with M.11-1982 and M.10A-1982)
History note: Walter Butler, 18th Earl of Ormonde, created 1st Marquis of Ormonde, 1816, and by descent in the Ormonde family.
