Description

White earthenware with slightly blue tinted glaze, transfer-printed in dark ochre-yellow, painted underglaze in blue, overglaze in red and yellow enamels, and gilt. Oval with flat rim, deep, curved sides, and flat centre. In the centre is a 'Japan' pattern arrangement of flowers and foliage. On the rim there are four sprays of similar flowers and foliage, a border of striped triangles with red and yellow, or yellow half-flowers at intervals, and an ochre-yellow band round the edge.
