Description

Cream earthenware, press-moulded and decorated with green and yellowish translucent lead-glazes. The base inside the footring is only partially glazed in green. Of Chinese covered tea bowl form, moulded to resemble a cauliflower, the convex cover (A) with six leaves radiating from the shallow cauliflower knob. The leaves on the bowl are coloured in green glaze

Attributed to Josiah Wedgwood on attribution, but cauliflower wares were made by several Staffordshire potters, such as William Greatbatch. Cauliflower slop bowls and sugar basins were found on the Greatbatch site. See Documentation, Young, and Barker.
