Text: at Scarborough. the North Sands. Sunset. / The light in sky on the side. yellow and the water reflecting it. / The surf at the edge is of a light cobalt colour contrasting with the yellow. / The other side of the water a little yellow in the light and getting / more grey to the end. The distance and middle shadow / grey the same as the cloud which had somwhat the tint / of Paynes (?) grey. distant Hill grey. top of middle distance / a little green the foreground dark green. / The effect soft and beautiful in colour / one side warm the other colour grey - / The rippling waves showing for some distance.
