Note

Binder's name stamped on front fly-leaf: 'Bound by Townsend & Son / Sheffield'. Loose folios have been blanket stitched in sections to form gatherings, then crudely sorn in, rounded and backed. Evidence on the prints suggests at least two earlier groupings or bindings: 1) The Spanish (or Latin) annotations on the upper margins or top of versos, some of which are trimmed; 2) The sequential numbering on the corner of the versos in the same place (i.e. not removed with the aforementioned trimming). The numbering was almost certainly done before the 19th-century Townsend-binding, since there are gaps in the sequence (no numbers 101, 102, 120 and 142-153), but no evidence of prints having been removed.
