Description

Broad rounded circular pewter dish, with a central depression and raised boss. Containing a pewter medallion.
Rim engraving of wrigglework. 'Rejoyce Argyle ye traitor is fallen' with a double portrait of James II and the Queen. Around the boss 'Vivat rex Jacobus secundus' in garter, with 1685.
Central medallion with Royal Arms and 'Jacobus II del cura mag brit fan et hubornae (?) rex fid depensor'.
Marked with an RG crowned in a circle, rim hallmarks include a buckle.

Fake made from new metal, with modern engraving.
