Trembleuse cup and saucer
Factory: Saint-Cloud Porcelain Manufactory
Soft-paste porcelain, moulded, and painted underglaze in blue
Soft-paste porcelain, moulded, and painted underglaze in blue; thickly potted, but highly translucent. The cup stands on a footrim and has deep curved sides, flaring slightly towards the rim. The lower two-thirds of the sides are gadrooned, and the loop handle has a vertical depression running down the centre. The plain upper part is decorated with nine lambrequins, made up of scrolling foliage and strapwork with pendants, and round the outside of the footrim there is horizontal band, with below a band of zigzags and spots. The circular saucer stands on a footring, and has shallow curved sides, moulded internally with gadooning which encircles the raised trembleuse ring to take the foot of the cup. The inside is decorated en suite with the cup. The outside has a band of zigzag and spots round the rim, and two circles round the footring.
