Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, moulded, glazed, and decorated with flowers and leaves in onglaze polychrome enamels and gilt.
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, moulded, painted in enamel-colours and gilt. In the shape of a leaf with a twig handle, four small projecting feet and applied prunus sprays in relief on the exterior. The spaces between the prunus sprays are painted with floral springs. Inside, there is a central bouquet and six detached floral springs, and round the rim, a border of red leaves interrupted by four gold flower heads.
History note: Collection of the late Dr Hugh Statham (1895-1967) and Mrs Margaret Statham (d. 1970); lent anonymously in 1970 by their daughter, Miss Beryl Statham (d. 1990) by whom bequeathed
Bequeathed by Miss Statham, accepted by H.M.Government in 1990 in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the Fitzwilliam Museum
