Self-portrait
Draughtsman: Richmond, George
Allocated by H.M. Treasury through the Minister of the Arts, accepted in lieu of taxes
Height: 549 mm
Width: 480 mm
Method of acquisition: Bequeathed (1985) by Keynes, Geoffrey
Production date: circa AD 1830 : Dated by Lister c. 1855 which would show Richmond aged 46. This drawing shows a much younger man and a date of c. 1830 seems much more probable. Indeed, RIchmond's appearance racalls the description of him when he was invited to dinner by Sir Robert Inglis shortly after his marriage in 1831 'Byronic in appearance' (Lister, 1981).
