Glazed off-white and slightly iridescent Parian porcelain of handmade triple darning-weave, trellis weave, and interlacing arcading with applied handles, and moulded and hand-modelled applied decoration. The oval basket stands on an oval double rope footring, and has an oval base of three-strand weave with a rope edge. The deep curved sides are of trellis weave, and the flat rim of interlaced arcading with a plait round the inner edge. The two handles are each formed by a prickly rose stem with a secondary stem branching from it and curving downwards to the rim where there is a small flower, a bud, and five leaves (different on each side). On the rim, next to the ends of the handles, there are four groups of applied flowers, comprising a rose, four buds, a closed thistle, and a spray of shamrock leaves.
