Thomas Stirling Lee trained at the Royal Academy, London and in Paris and Rome. A close friend of the sculptor, Alfred Gilbert (1854-1934), Stirling Lee worked primarily in marble and bronze. Commissions included a series of reliefs for the exterior of St George's Hall, Liverpool, bas-reliefs for Leeds Town Hall and carvings for Westminster Cathedral.
