Soft-paste porcelain with clear glaze which appears turquoise green where it lies thickly in his mouth and behind his neck next to the gourd. The boy stands on a rectangular base. He holds a double gourd over his left shoulder. His head is uptilted and he appears to be laughing or singing
History note: From the collection of Dr and Mrs Hugh Statham; Dr Statham died 1967; Mrs Statham died 1970. Purchased with the Cunliffe Fund and grant-in-aid from the Victoria and Albert Museum
