One of a pair of porcelain stem bowls, with an ivory white glaze. The bow is of a hemispherical form, standing on a low narrow foot. The rim has six indentations and the interior of the bowl has six vertical ribs, creating the effect of a flower. On the exterior there is an incised horizontal band below the rim, and six short vertical lines corresponding to the interior ribs.
In a rectangular presentation box, covered on the exterior with dark blue leather, with a gold border on the top of the lid and along the upper edge of the box and interior edge of the lid. The interior of the lid is lined with white silk and the lower part is fitted and lined with royal blue silk and velvet. The top of the lid bears a rectangular brass plaque engraved with the inscription: 'To Mr Dugald Malcolm, vice marshal of the diplomatic corps 1957-65. From the heads of the mission in London'
With two labels. One is circular, printed in black 'John Sparks ltd 128 Mount Street. W'. Another is printed in black with a tower and 'Malcolm Collection' and inscribed 'D b/124'
