Description

Bronze. Globular in shape, in two halves:
a) the lid having an open-work pattern, partly scroll design, and ending in a small turret
b) the bowl is solid, decorated with scroll pattern repousse.

Note

Censers are containers in which incense is burned on hot charcoal. During Mass, blessings, and processions, they are swung so that scented smoke disperses, symbolising the ascent of prayers to God.
