Description
Bronze, cast. Rectangular. Perseus, nude but for wings in his hair, winged sandals and a drape over his left shoulder and arm, stands on the right, holding out his right hand to take Andromeda's left wrist, to save her from being devoured by the sea monster in the sea below. She stands on a tall rock on the left, looking down towards him. She wears a diaphanous dress and a billowing shawl which she holds to her with her right hand.

Note
Produced by either Giovanni or Giacomo Zoffoli. A cast was included in a list of works for sale by Giovanni Zoffoli in c. 1795. The relief is derived from an antique relief published in 'Admiranda Romanarum Antiquitatum', pl. 34 (publ. Domenico de' Rossi, 1693) then in the Palazzo Pamphili, now in the Capitoline Museum, Rome.
