Bracket clock with 8 day movement, rack striking.

Dial: Break-arch brass dial plate, 7 inches wide, with rococo spandrels and arch spandrels. Silvered chap¬ter ring without quarter hour markings and silvered Strike/Silent ring in arch. Silvered sunken plaque below XII signed ‘Frans. Atkins London'. Pierced and blued steel hands of serpentine design.

Movement: 8 day movement, rack striking with hour repeating and original late-type verge escapement. Engraved back plate.

Case: Inverted bell-topped case with canted corners. Cream japanning with fine gilt lattice design and chinoiserie decoration but without any raised work. Five plinths for finials, the central one lacking frets which were originally fitted each side of it. Brass pineapple finials, side lifting handles and moulded feet.
