Purchased in 1940 as by Riccio. By 1997 considered to have been made in Padua or Trent by one or both of the Grandi. The putto was formerly thought to be perhaps German, late 15th or early 16th century. It has been fixed to the lid in the form of a funerary genius, which is a later fitting, made to match the urn.
