Feilner, Simon
Hard-paste porcelain painted in enamels
Hard-paste porcelain, moulded, and painted overglaze in blue, green, yellow, flesh-pink, mauve, red, greyish-brown, grey, and black enamels. The flat, unglazed, underside has a large round central ventilation hole flanked by smaller circular holes. The elongated oval base has a scrolled and frilled edge and upper surface, with a naturally-coloured tree stump in the middle supporting the prancing horse. The area round the stump has a green and yellow mossy surface and is decorated with four hand-modelled flowers painted in different colours. The horse is going towards the left with the cavalier in profile to the viewer.
The white horse is dappled with black spots and has a black tail. Its black bridle is decorated with yellow rosettes, and on its back there is a mauve blanket and pistol holders. The cavalier wears a black tricorn hat with white edges and green cockade; a tie wig with a long black tail, a white shirt with ruffles, a red full-skirted coat with white edging, blue cuffs and lining, yellow gloves, a yellow sword belt, white breeches, and black thigh-length boots.
