Description

Hard-past porcelain painted in polychrome enamels with flowers

Hard-paste porcelain, moulded, tin-glazed, and painted in blue, green, yellow, pale orange, red, and puce enamels. The circular bowl has deep curved sides, moulded with lines sloping in opposite directions to form four petal shapes, two small S-shaped handles with a strap around the lower end, and stands on a footring. The domed cover is lightly gadrooned, and has a knob in the form of a pear on a stalk with a leaf. A flange on the underside fits inside the rim of the bowl. On each side of the bowl there are one large and one small spray of mixed flowers, and one side also a tiny yellow bud and two leaves. The handles have dark puce lines down the sides and a blue stroke down the back. Inside there is a dark puce floral spray. The cover has three sprays of flowers and one small sprig with a yellow bud. The pear knob is shaded in pale orange and yellow and its leaf is green. A dark puce line encircles the outer edge.
