Figure of a Bijin, or Beauty
Maker: Unknown
Figure of a Bijin, or Beauty, painted in Kakiemon-style enamels in red, blue, yellow, green and black. The Bijin is standing and leaning slightly backwards with a smiling expression, holding a cup in her right hand and grasping a billowing sleeve with her left. Her hair is elaborately arranged with a loop at the back. She is dressed in a long kimono decorated with a phoenix with long tail feathers which extend down its length and with cloud scrolls; with a black sash and an under robe bearing a diamond chequered pattern in red. The cup appears to be the remains of a damaged bottle.
