Description

Silver and silver filigree set with painted enamel plaques.

Silver and silver filigree set with painted enamel plaques. Trunk-shaped, standing on four filigree bun feet. The base is silver. Each side is constructed of floral silver filigree surrounded by borders of wavy silver wire. The front closes by means of a catch on a filigree rosette. The top, back and front are each set with one oval and four heart-shaped enamel plaques (one heart-shaped missing from back), and the two ends with an oval plaque. Each plaque is painted with a putto in a landscape, except for the oval one on the top which is painted with two putti in a landscape. The oval plaques and one of the heart-shaped plaques on the top, bear remnants of French mottoes written in black.
