Description

At King George V's succession to King Edward VII in 1910, most of the service medals then on issue were renewed with a portrait of the new monarch by Richard Garbe, but with the current reverses and suspensions maintained. The Indian Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal was no exception, as comparison with the previous issue will show. Conditions of issue also remained the same, to wit, twenty years' continuous service in good standing, with a gratuity awarded annually to two recipients in each of the three Presidencies of British India.
This medal was awarded to 1st Driver Kamalapoory Southuyaroo of the Bullock Half Troop, Wellington. Lester Watson acquired it at some point before 1928.
