White earthenware, moulded and decorated underglaze with a multicolour transfer print. On the top 'The Parish Beadle', after Sir David Wilkie, R.A., inscribed 'Thos. Jackson THE PARISH BEADLE After WILKIE' and on the inn sign 'THE/BONNY BLACK BEAR/BY/GILES GOSLING'; border, Fig. VIII b. (Williams-Wood, p. 103) with white surround and a thin and a thick black line.
