Note

After an original by Major Light, made 'in situ', for W.B. Cooke's 'Sicilian Scenery'. De Wint never visited Italy, but, as in the drawings for Stanhope's 'Olympia' of 1824, he reworked the drawings made on the spot by an amateur draughtsman.
