Description

White earthenware, moulded, decorated with coloured transfer prints under a slightly bluish, crazed glaze. Blue, yellow and red with a blackish-brown key plate. Circular with a sloping rim and flat central area. 'The Skewbald Horse', after Philips Wouwerman, inscribed 'P. WOUVERMANN PINX' and signed very faintly 'J AUSTIN Sc'. Encircled by a narrow border Fig. VIII j. (Williams-Wood, p. 103) and gilt line; outer 'harebell' border with a gilt line on the edge of the rim.
