Description

Gilt metal box, the lid set with a panel of agate

Gilt metal and agate; of shaped cartouche form with bombé sides and a hinged lid. The gilt metal box is embossed and chased with an all-over pattern of flowers and foliage within scrolling panels. Round the rim of the lid is an applied moulded band, and in the centre is a large shaped plaque of grey agate. The base stands on three applied low feet in the form of flowerheads.
