Ivory, carved and pressed, with a white metal hinge. Oval with straight sides and a projecting hinge. The top of the pull-off lid depicts two cherubs holding a wreath above a lozenge-shaped cartouche containing a cipher. The cartouche stands on two ribbon tied palms and is surrounded by scrolling foliage.

Carving : The base, sides and lid were carved from ivory. The pieces were then heated and pressed to form flat sheets, moulding or pressed patterns before being glued to form a box. The cast white metal hinge was fitted with pins
