Description

Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, circular; decorated with a portrait medallion on the lid and initialled on the base

Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, circular with flat pull-off lid. The lid is set with a gilt Cadet Corps presentation medal of Catherine the Great, surrounded by a nielloed border of the trophies of war, including standards, armour and weapons; on a matt gilt ground. The sides are also nielloed with trophies of war on a matt gilt ground and within bright cut borders. The recessed base is nielloed with the initials "JIL" or possibly "TIL" within a floral border and on a matt gilt ground. The interior of the box is gilt.
