Maker: Fabergé, Carl
Birch wood and gold; rectangular with rounded corners. The lid has a concealed hinge and fits flush with the top of the sides, except in the middle of the front where there is a projecting thumbpiece. About 4 cm from each end the box is encircled by a series of interlocking chased gold circular garlands. The fitted case (A) (probably original) is of maple-wood with a cream velvet linging to the lower part and cream silk to the lid. The lining is stamped in gold with the Imperial eagle and in cyrillic latters Fabergé / St Petersburg Moscow London
