Description

White earthenware, moulded, decorated with a turquoise-green ground, multi-colour transfer prints, and gilding. Cylindrical with recessed base, and two angular strap handles. On each side is a rounded oblong print of the 'Philadelphia Exhibition 1876' entitled 'PHILADELPHIA EXHIBITION 1876' in a reserved area of the gilt line frame. There are gilt bands round the base and rim, down the sides of the handles, which also have strokes on the top and down the back. Inside the rim is a narrow brown and yellowish-beige 'stars and stripes' border.
