Buff earthenware, tin-glazed white on the upper surface and transfer-printed in black. The Pluralist and the Old Soldier; '88' border.

Note

The design satyrises the wealth of the Church, symbolised by Lincoln Cathedral and the rich cleric. It was derived from The Human Passions Delineated by T. Bobbin, 1773, the plate dated 1770. Lincoln Cathedral was substituted for Ely Cathedral in the original.
