Enamel on copper with gilt metal mounts; oval in section with tapering sides, decorated in colours with four pastoral vignettes on a pale pink ground
Enamel on copper with chased gilt metal mounts. Oval in section with tapering sides, hinged lid and sprung button catch. Enamelled in polychrome with five vignettes in Classical settings within raised white enamelled scrolling cartouches on a pale pink ground decorated with white dots and scrolls. On the base are depicted a a female figure leaning on a globe and a kneeling cherub, both looking through telescopes and symbolising Astronomy; a female figure holding a cornucopia symbolising Plenty, seated beside a lion with two cherubs climbing on his back. On the lid are depicted a cherub dancing, a cherub carving a bust, symbolising Sculpture, and a cherub playing a flute, symbolising Music. The interior divider has a gilt metal top with spaces for six tools. It contains a pair of scissors (A), a button hook (B), a bodkin (C), a file (D), a stiletto (E) and a bodkin case (F).
