Description

Circular, wood box painted in red and gold, the lid set with a gilt metal rosette over a hardstone

Wood box painted in red, gold and white, and varnished, with a tortoiseshell lining, set with a pierced and chased gilt metal ornament over a hardstone. Circular with straight sides and an almost flat pull-off lid. The whole of the exterior is decorated with a chequered pattern of square gold dots on a red ground within narrow white and gilt borders. The top of the lid has an applied gilt metal rosette of scrolling foliage over a flat circular hardstone
