Description

The Institution of Mining Engineers no longer exists as a body, having merged with the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy in 1998 to form the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy, which itself merged with the Institute of Materials in 2002 to become the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Happily the component organisations' histories have not been forgotten in the new body and the Fitzwilliam has Graham Woodrow at IoM3 to thank for the details of the history of this medal.
