Potter: Hamada, Shoji (Perhaps)
Red-brown stoneware with greyish mottled glaze, painted greyish-white and in iron brown. Circular (not perfectly) with slightly sloping rim, and shallow well, standing on a footring. The footring and a small area on either side of it are unglazed. The well is painted in greyish-white with a fish leaping to the right over a wave within a greyish white circle. There are four wavy greyish-white lines on the rim, and on its edge, a greyish-white bend between two iron-brown. The brown band continues on the reverse, where it has run into the greyish-white glaze. The design on the rim below the wave has become blurred during firing.
