Silver; cast, shaped square decorated with masks and shells
Silver, the cast candlestick has an urn-shaped sconce on a square vase-shaped column with shell corners. This is over a knop decorated with masks of men and women in medieval headresses. The foot has a central circular well; the shaped square sides are stepped and in each of the four corners is a large mask of a women with flowing hair or a bearded man. The detachable nozzle has an applied moulded border. Both the stick and the nozzle are engraved with a crest. E.L is engraved under the foot. (a pair with M.8.1 & A-1950)
