Red-brown stoneware with olive-brown and greyish-white glazes. Thrown depressed globular form with recessed base, a short cylindrical neck, flaring rim, and two small applied strap handles on opposing sides. The interior of the rim and the edge of the base are unglazed. The interior is glazed greyish-white. The circular cover has a concave centre with a large central knob with a slightly convex circular top. The edge of the undersideof the cover is unglazed. The widest part of the casserole is decorated with a band of pinching, above which there are olive-brown and white stripes, and round the edge of the rim, a brown band. The cover has a border of rectangular and slanting strokes.
